Rambling Monday Thoughts

Monday. Monday. Back to reality from the long weekend - but thankfully Monday is over for the most part. I'm not a big Monday fan overall - the getting up early again wah wah wah! Kramer from Seinfeld was right that days do have a feeling ("I feel Wed.")....and I happen to love Wed. as it's rehearsal nights usually. A little fried from this Monday as you can tell by the senseless babble you just read! (Sorry)

In other ramblings, I have to say that I couldn't be happier with how BG is sounding these days. (and really happy with the last two gigs!) We've added some fantastic musicians (Walter Ensor and Cat Cosmai) to our ranks on a regular basis and are broadening our sounds big time.

This past Spring we (Vic, Steve, Jim, & I) started recording what was to become our first album/ep. We had planned on really shaping it up and getting it out there for all to hear this Fall - it sounded amazing and was going real well (in fact a lot of what on our websites is the rough demos). All the while, we worked playing gigs this Summer with our new friends! Instead of finishing the album we have focused on growing our sound and cultivating this newness that we've found. This is part of the reason why what you've been hearing here on the interwebs and seeing/hearing in the live shows of late don't match up. Have no fear, we are on it, and are planning to take some time to get some fresh sounds around on our internet spots. So stay tuned. Rehearsals this Wed. and gearing up for our Bar 4 show on Dec. 23rd. It might be our last gig of the year...but you never know. Mark your calender nevertheless.

Still waiting on pictures from the Colony Theater show on Friday night! Soon as we get some - we'll post 'em. I also heard that someone might have taped the show so there might be some audio as well. Here's to hoping...

Operation Toy Soldier

What a great night we had last night. We had such a fun time opening up the night with a great set. Stellar playing from everyone. We had Charlie Wolf sit in on a couple of tunes. Kerry Kearney & Friends ripped it up. Some awesome playing and harmonies. And Reda Shay lit the place up.

But overall - it was the community that came out strong and supported the cause. It was something very special to be a part of for sure. I'm sure we'll be seeing pictures soon enough...will post them when they come in!

Have a great Saturday....

Roads lined with pines...

Making my way back to NYC from upper western Mass via Greyhound. Had a big ol' fashioned New England breakfast, iPod is cranking, and the scenery out the window is amazing. We live in one amazing place here in America.

Speaking of which also working on tonight setlist for Operation Toy Soldier. Hope to raise a lot of money for our troops! Going to be a good night with awesome music and the most amazing community of people anywhere. So hope to see a lot of familiar faces. We will be bringing our best tonight! More from on the road...just pulled out of Stockbridge...

Holidaze

So the holiday season is upon us. Although, with all the retailers playing Christmas music since mid October not to mention all of the displays being up, it's tough to get in the spirit! In the end it is really about celebrating friends and family! We hope that you all out there are planning to do it up right! We keep those who are having a rough holiday season in our mind - especially all our brave men and women all around the world fighting to keep us safe!

We will be playing down at the Colony Theater in Breezy Point, NY this Friday night starting round 8pm. its $10 at the door and it is BYOB. The event is a fundraiser for Operation Toy Soldier - so that the children of service men and women can have a wonderful holiday season! So come on down and have a good time for a great cause. Let us know if you need further information.

In other news, heard that Phil Lesh & Bob Weir tore it up at MSG this weekend. Wish I was there - missed it though as I was out of town. Help>Slip>Shakedown to open up Saturday night? That had to have been sick! Going to go listen to it over at Archive.org!

And I know that I promised that I would put photos and videos up here on this blog. I have been meaning to. I'm still getting used to the new phone and promise to do some interesting posting this week!

Will post again before Thanksgiving....but for those of you that don't check - Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

On a Tuesday Afternoon!

Getting ready to head into Brooklyn to meet the band for rehearsals for the show on Friday night. Getting the set list whittled down to 40 - 45 minutes is not an easy thing to do. We're used to three hour plus shows. So 45 minutes is maybe a half a set. It's hard to cut songs that we love to do. Nevertheless, that is the challenge and also what is going to make Friday night so awesome. We've spent a lot of time getting the songs just right and ready.

In other news, we are starting to book late Fall and Winter dates and are in the process of shaping up the new website. Once we have that all done we'll blast out an email and let you know. If you haven't signed up for updates there's a contact tab at the website - just fill it out and we'll sign you up.

PS - this blog is going to become a lot more fun once I learn how to start adding pictures and video. This way 1I can show you the inner workings of what goes on in rehearsals, other funny things, etc....I will get the hang of it
